Top 10 Ways To Care For Your Towels

Plush and soft bath towels are perhaps one of the factors that define a luxurious bath experience. Interestingly, there are some ways to protect your towels and keep them soft and smooth for longer. Let’s explore the top 10 ways to take care of your towels.

1. Reliable laundry service
Ensure that you rely on a professional laundry service provider. This, in turn, reduces the risk of the towels being damaged during the laundry process.

2. Care for white towels
Use oxygen bleach for white towels rather than using chlorine bleach which could be harsh on cotton fabric.

3. Care for coloured towels
Never bleach coloured towels. Bleaching your coloured towels could lead to the fading of the colour and could also harm the fabric texture. It is always better to wash coloured towels separately with milder chemicals.

4. Avoid fabric softeners
Though fabric softeners are meant to reward your clothes with a longer life, these may not be ideal for towels. Continued usage of fabric softeners could make the towels dry and rough.

5. Care for dyed towels
While you wash dyed towels, avoid the use of optical brighteners as this may make the original colour of the towels fade away, making them appear dull and old.

6. Use of OBAs & strong bleach
While washing dyed towels, avoid the usage of Optical Brightening Agents (OBAs) as well as strong bleaches to keep the towels look bright and fresh for longer.

7. OBAs for white towels
Though OBAs could be harmful for coloured towels, these agents can be used for white towels as they help the fabric turn whiter. Never use low quality OBAs as these may lead to a yellowish tint to the white towels after wash.

8. Threats to your towels
The towels are never to be brought in contact with any kind of strong chemicals like bathroom cleaning products, hair colourants, face wash, and face creams. These products could fade away the fabric colour.

9. Cut the pulled loops
If you find pulled loops on the bath towel, ensure that they are cut using scissors, rather than pulling the loop out which could cause damage to the towel and reduce its lifespan.

10. Care for reactive dyed towels
Reactive dyed towels are to be treated mildly while washing. Never use bleaching agents or chlorine for these. Instead, the towels can be washed in warm water using mild detergent. If you find the towel greasy, you can use a minimal amount of caustic soda (0.5 grams for one litre) to soak the fabric, which can be washed in warm water after a few minutes of soaking.

Following the above tips, we hope your towels get the best treatment, which also ensures that they assure you a better bathing experience.
